Blending Project Management with Creativity and a Love for Photo Stories

Hello, so glad you are here!

When was the last time you had that “No!, No!, No!” feeling? You know the one that feels like a deep, dark pit in the bottom of your stomach. Mine was when I thought my son’s entire first three years of photos were gone due to my constant procrastination in pulling them from an old computer. From this horrible situation, I found the perfect combination of three things I love; project management, being creative and cherishing the memories that photos whisper back to us.

I have been in operations and project management for a Fortune 500 company for over 20 years. Little did I know that those skills would one day be the perfect foundation on-which to layer my love of being creative and my love of photos. I had always enjoyed scrap-booking but came to a point when my children were younger where I just felt overwhelmed with my photos being here, there and everywhere. I had too many photos and too little time so, I did what a lot of people do and said simply, I will get to it….. Then that dreaded day came where I thought I had lost everything! But not to fear, the story has a happy ending, I found APPO- which is the Association of Professional Photo Organizers (who even knew there was such a thing?) and I joined right away. I wasn’t going to loose all of my son’s photos without a fight and it was at APPO that I found the solution to my problem and a new passion to help other families who struggle with the same situation or fear of being in that situation.

Being a member of APPO means that I am professionally trained, highly connected with other professional photo organizers worldwide and have many photo organizing tools and references available for any type of new project. I attend the yearly conference which consists of several days of in-depth focused training and insight into the ever-changing photo software landscape.

Organizing all of those photos so I could turn them into precious, high quality photo books that tell the story of our life has been amazing. Memory Lane has become one of our favorite places to go!

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things long after you have forgotten everything.” – Aaron Siskind
